Quick answer. Hollingbury is Brighton's pay and play course: £28 for 18 holes midweek, £37 at weekends, £22 midweek twilight. If you've never swung a club, Roedean pitch and putt is £11.50 with your own clubs and £14 with hired ones, and you don't need to book. Prices checked 31 October 2026.
You fancy a round, but you don't have a membership, you haven't got a handicap, and every club website says "visitors must book" in a font you can barely read. Fair enough. Plenty of places in and around Brighton will take you as you are.
Pay and play in the city
Hollingbury is the only full-size, pay and play 18 in Brighton. Par 72, on Ditchling Road, council land leased to The Circle since 1 April 2020.
- Midweek £28, weekend and bank holidays £37 (about £1.56 and £2.06 a hole)
- Twilight £22 midweek, £28 weekend
- Juniors £14 midweek, £16.50 weekend
Book on the ClubV1 tee sheet or ring 01273 567855. The club doesn't state a dress code or handicap rule, so phone if that worries you. Walkers use the rights of way across the course, which reviewers either shrug at or hate. Golfers rate the value and are split on the greens.
Roedean pitch and putt is 16 holes with real clubs and a ball. It's open 8am to dusk with no booking. Adults pay £14 with hired clubs and £11.50 with their own, and a family of four with hired clubs is £44.
Brighton Footgolf at Benfield Valley is a football round, 9 holes for £10 or 18 holes for £16, with under-16s at £6 and £9. It needs booking. It's a good one if you've got non-golfers in the group.

Members' clubs with no handicap rule
Plenty of members' clubs will let you through the door. Brighton & Hove Golf Club says no handicap certificate is required, though it expects a reasonable standard of play. Visitors play from 12pm, pre-booked, and 18 holes is £42 midweek. Dyke and East Brighton welcome visitors, but they cost more (£70 and £50 midweek). Our members' clubs guide covers the booking rules.
Cheap rounds within 30 minutes

| Seaford Head | 30 min | £36 weekday, £41 weekend | Clifftop pay and play, twilight £24 after 3pm |

Peacehaven is the cheapest we found, at £18 for 18 holes. Reviewers like the price, but they also say the signage is poor and the clubhouse was short on food, and its newest Golfshake review is from 2023. Treat it as a cheap, rough-and-ready local round.
Twilight is your friend
Most of these courses drop their price later in the day. Hollingbury's twilight is £22 midweek, Seaford Head's is £24 after 3pm, and Brighton & Hove Golf Club's summer twilight from 4pm is £30 for 18 holes. In November the light goes early, so check the start time before you book.
What to bring
Not much. Roedean includes a full set of clubs in the round price (or you can hire a single club for £3), and Brighton Footgolf hires balls for £1 and takes football boots, though astro trainers are preferred. At Hollingbury you give your car registration to the pro shop or bar because parking is free but runs on ANPR. Wear sensible shoes, take a waterproof, and phone the shop if you're not sure about dress. I'd rather ask a daft question than get turned away at the first tee.
A simple route for a beginner
Start with Roedean, because nobody is watching and the holes are short. Move on to Brighton Footgolf if you want a laugh, then a bucket at the West Hove range, then a twilight round at Hollingbury. That's about £55 in total and no membership.
