What it's like
The venue calls it mini golf, but it is a 16-hole pitch and putt played with real clubs, a ball, tees, pencils and scorecards, on Marine Drive in Roedean. There is a cafe next door, open 9am to 3.30pm daily, and dogs are welcome in the cafe. It is outdoors and open from 8am to dusk every day.
Getting there: buses 12, 14C and 27, or on foot by the under-cliff walk or cliff-top path, just east of Brighton Marina on the A259.

Who it's for
Beginners, families and anyone who wants short-game practice without booking: it is public pay and play. It doesn't have the obstacles of a crazy golf course. If you want a first go at a proper club-and-ball round before joining a longer course, this is where to start.
